Hey there, fellow DIYers! Are you in need of a comfy and stylish addition to your outdoor space? Look no further than the classic Adirondack chair. With just a few simple materials and some elbow grease, you can have your very own outdoor haven.
Firstly, gather your supplies. You’ll need:
– 4 cedar boards, 1 x 6 x 8 feet
– 2 cedar boards, 1 x 4 x 8 feet
– 2 1/2 inch deck screws
– Measuring tape
– Saw
– Drill
– Sandpaper
Once you’ve got your materials, you can start cutting the pieces to size. Use a saw to cut:
– 2 37-inch pieces for the back legs
– 2 20-inch pieces for the front legs
– 1 22-inch piece for the front brace
– 2 23-inch pieces for the back braces
– 1 20-inch piece for the seat support
– 5 28-inch pieces for the seat slats
– 6 21-inch pieces for the back slats
– 2 19-inch pieces for the armrests
– 2 16-inch pieces for the armrest supports
Once you’ve cut all the pieces, it’s time to assemble! Use a drill to attach the back legs to the front legs with the front brace. Then attach the back braces to the back legs. Next, attach the seat support to the front and back legs, and then screw in the seat slats.
For the backrest, lay out the back slats and attach the armrest supports to the top, leaving a gap for the armrests. Attach the backrest to the back legs and attach the armrests to the supports. And voila! You’ve got yourself a beautiful Adirondack chair to relax in.
But wait, there’s more! You can customize your chair by painting/staining it or adding cushions. And if you’re feeling adventurous, try making a matching footrest or side table.
Now you’re ready to sit back, relax, and enjoy your perfect outdoor haven. Happy DIYing!
